The Open Meadows Fund for Women

The Open Meadows Foundation is a US based grant-making organization for projects that are led by and benefit women and girls, particularly those from vulnerable communities. The Open Meadows Foundation funds projects that, does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, gender identity and expression, sexual identity and expression, age or ability. It offers grants up to $2000 to projects that:

(1) Are designed and implemented by women and girls;  (2) Reflect the diversity of the community served by the project in both its leadership and organization; (3) Promote building community power; (4) Promote gender, racial, social, economic and/or environmental justice; and (5) Have limited financial access or have encountered obstacles in their search for funding.

The Open Meadows Foundation Does Not Fund to:

(1) individuals (2) scholarships / internships / fellowships (3) endowments, loans, capital campaigns (4) religious and/or faith-based institutions or programs that include religious activities  (5) research (6) for-profit businesses (7) public or private educational institutions (8) local, state, and national governmental agencies (9) events that will have happened before the letter deadline of the cycle (10) general operating expenses (11) Film and video projects will be considered only after the film/video is complete. (12) Organizations with a total income greater than or equal to $150,000 (13) NGOs in which women and girls are not the primary leaders and implementers.

Eligibility -   

NGOs interested in applying must have a proper existence and a tax exempt status.

Deadline

The deadlines for proposals are FEBUARY 15 and AUGUST 15 of each year.

Open Meadows only accepts one proposal from a NGO at a cycle. If the request is for more than one project, neither project will be considered.

Important Note -

Please do not send unsolicited emails seeking funding support to donor agencies. This will discredit your NGO and can also bring bad reputation to you as an individual as well as a NGO.

Fund raising is a competitive process and you need to follow ethics and not spam donor emails with long, unrelated requests for fund / grant support. If you just keep sending emails seeking support without knowing your donor, your chances of raising funds for your NGO will be drastically reduced and you may be blacklisted as a spammer.
